Statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Response to a Question Regarding the Allegations That German Military Transport Aircraft Was Not Allowed to Use Incirlik Air Base

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 21.08.2014

QA-23, 20 August 2014

Within the framework of the current situation in the Northern Iraq, the applications of aircraft carrying humanitarian aid to the region, for using Turkish air space or landing in/taking-off from airports are answered immediately and positively, and the necessary permissions are granted. Therefore, the news in the press originating from Germany and claiming that a German aircraft was not granted permission does not reflect the truth.

Such intentional and unfounded news damage the efforts for establishing peace, security and stability in the region.

Turkey will resolutely continue its comprehensive humanitarian aid programme to the region as well as its cooperation for facilitating the humanitarian aid shipments by the international community.
