Press Release Regarding the Incidents Taking Place in Libya
No: 153, 20 May 2014
We are saddened by the clashes which started in Benghazi on 16 March 2014 and spread to Tripoli and by the ensuing loss of lives. We are concerned that the violence could rise further.
We wish that the transition process be completed in a spirit of national dialogue and compromise and by preserving the achievements of the revolution which was the result of enormous sacrifices in friendly and brotherly Libya.
It is crucial for Libya to resolve the problems through dialogue and democratic means and to establish lasting stability and security.
We call on all parties to act in restraint and common sense.
