Optimistic estimates regarding the Turkish economy are getting stronger. According to the World Bank’s recently issued report, entitled “Global Economic Expectations 2010”, Turkey is expected to grow 6.3 percent in 2010, 4.2 percent in 2011, and 4.7 percent in 2012. The report’s section on Central Asia and Europe indicates that growth rates in industrial production in Russia, Poland and Turkey, the largest three economies in the region, are recovering strongly and returning to those of the pre-crisis period. The report also says that Turkey’s improvement in the second quarter of 2009 is much greater than that of other countries.
