The annual expenditure by credit cards has reached USD 200 billion in Turkey, where there are 45 million credit card users. The Interbank Card Center’s Director (BKM) General Sertac Ozinal said the annual turnover of credit cards in Turkey makes the country the third-largest market in Europe in terms of credit card spending. The center, which was established in partnership with public and private banks, develops and regulates standards for credit and debit cards in Turkey.
Ozinal noted that credit card usage in Turkey is increasing, while turnovers are expected to increase by 10-15 percent this year. Ozinal said Turkey is in a good position in terms of credit card payment systems and added, “Statistically, Turkey is the third-largest credit card market in Europe”.
